Levy County Mosquito Control

Independent Vector Information & Public Health Network

The LCMN Advisory Panel

The Levy County Mosquito Control Information Network is governed by an independent, multi-disciplinary Advisory Panel. To ensure absolute objectivity in our environmental audits and public health advisories, panel members are strictly prohibited from holding financial interests or advisory roles within private, commercial pest control companies. The board is structured to provide comprehensive oversight across entomology, hydrology, and municipal epidemiology.

Board Seat 01

Director of Epidemiological Research

Responsible for analyzing statewide arborvirus data, tracking local infection vectors (including West Nile and Dengue Fever), and coordinating Sentinel Chicken Program reports with the Florida Department of Health. This seat ensures all civic advisories are backed by active virology data.

Board Seat 02

Chief Entomological Advisor

Oversees the implementation of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This role monitors local Aedes aegypti and Culex mosquito populations, dictates biological larvicide (Bti) protocols, and evaluates the efficacy—and resistance rates—of municipal adulticide applications.

Board Seat 03

Environmental Impact & Hydrology Auditor

Dedicated to the protection of the Suwannee River Basin and the Floridan Aquifer. This seat audits the chemical runoff generated by residential mosquito misting systems and commercial agriculture, enforcing guidelines that protect native pollinators and aquatic ecosystems from pyrethroid degradation.

Board Seat 04

Citizen Advocacy & Public Health Liaison

The direct bridge between the scientific panel and Levy County residents. This role manages the citizen reporting portal, processes “No-Spray Zone” exemption requests, and develops community-wide “Tip and Toss” source reduction educational materials for hurricane season preparation.

The Independence Mandate

The LCMN Advisory Panel operates autonomously. We do not endorse specific commercial pest control brands, nor do we accept funding from chemical manufacturers. When our environmental auditors detect systemic ecological damage caused by specific industry practices—such as automated residential misting—the Panel reserves the right to issue independent, public-facing advisories to protect the integrity of the Gulf Coast ecosystem.
