Levy County Mosquito Control

Independent Vector Information & Public Health Network

Our Mission & Ecological Mandate

The Levy County Mosquito Control Information Network (LCMN) operates as an independent public health and environmental watchdog. Our primary mandate is to protect the residents of Levy County—from Cedar Key to Williston—against vector-borne diseases such as West Nile, Zika, and Dengue Fever, while simultaneously defending the fragile ecosystem of the Suwannee River Basin from irresponsible pesticide deployment.

Integrated Pest Management

We strictly adhere to the scientific principles of Integrated Pest Management (IPM). This means prioritizing biological source reduction (such as Bti larvicide in standing water) and public education over the indiscriminate, broad-spectrum chemical fogging commonly pushed by private commercial entities.

Aquifer & Basin Protection

Florida’s limestone geology makes our drinking water highly susceptible to chemical runoff. We actively audit and report on residential and agricultural pesticide practices that threaten to poison local pollinators, contaminate the Suwannee River, or seep into the Floridan Aquifer.

The LCMN Advisory Board

All public health advisories, epidemiological tracking data, and environmental impact reports published on this domain are vetted by the LCMN Advisory Board. This independent consortium comprises public health advocates, local ecologists, and vector-control specialists dedicated to data transparency.

By maintaining total independence from commercial pest control chains and chemical manufacturers, the Advisory Board ensures that Levy County residents receive unfiltered, scientifically accurate information regarding the safety and efficacy of local mosquito mitigation efforts.
